just wondering once you guys patch windows servers (any type), SQL server, windows xp or even as400, do you guys come out with a checklist or a document to show that the patch has been installed on the servers?

Software/Hardware used:
Windows 2003, Windows XP, AS400, SQL Server 2005

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

If you use any sort of automated patch management tool to manage your estate they pretty much all have a reporting module to let you generate the stuff you want. Even WSUS in its latest guise will give some pretty good reports of this nature. On Non windows stuff you would need to look at each available patchmanagement tool to check what it will support what you have.

I guess if you manage patching manually then a manual approach to checking and reporting is one option the other is to look at some of the vulnerability scanning tools around to see if they will get the reports you need

Hi AndyRlee, thanks for replying.. our side we don't use automated patch. Everything is done manually. I check for patches every 2nd and 4th week and come out some paper documentation if to patch or not to patch....
