Aero gets disabled when I open this site
When I open itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com Aero gets disabled. I find this strang. This is not a great problem, but I do prefer Aero to be enabled, because Vista Ultimate (with a dreamscene for desktop background) without Aero is a bit odd (and ugly). Does anyone know why this site causes Aero to be disabled?

Answer Wiki:
Perhaps you are running an incompatible IE add-on that the page causes to be invoked? Have you tried checking your add-ons in Tools > Manage Add-ons. Try starting IE in the no add-ons mode "Start Menu" > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)? I don't have this problem myself, Vista Ultimate 32.

Magnificus, I have used ITKE with Aero on my Vista machine with no problems and we haven’t had any feedback from members concerning Aero problems. I’m not sure why you’re having problems — but if you find out — please return to this thread and let us know. Thanks.

I have found the Add-on that caused this problem. (Simply by comparing the add-ons that were loaded before and after I opened this page)
The Add-on is called “QuickTimeCheck Class” punlished by “(Not verified) Apple Computer, inc.” typr “ActiveX Control” file “QUICKT~1.OCX” in folder “C:\Windows\System32″.

Now I have disabled this add-on Aero does not get turned off, but I do find it stranges that this add-on is activated by this site. I can’t find something loos like it is quicktime depending on this site, and this is the only site that caused this add-on to run.

You got my curiosity going, so I checked the add-ons on my Vista machine and I didn’t have the QuickTimeCheck Class. I visited Apple.com and the pop-up asked if I would allow the QuickTime ActiveX to load and I allowed it. When I looked in Add-ons, I now saw the QuickTimeCheck Class there and enabled. Then I went to IT Knowledge Exchange but everything still looks normal. You must have something else strange going on. I wish I could help but I’m not sure what’s causing your problem.

I have found my problem, I had an older QuickTime (Alternative, something of which the QuickTime insaller thought it was QuickTime pro) version installed. I have just installed a proper version of QuickTime and everything works fine :)
