Hi,

I want to build a career in Storage Area Network and get into HBA testing/development of iSCSI,FC,FCOE cards. What are the scope of job opportunities in India?

Please let me know the technical knowledge a person should pursue to become an expert in this field. It will be helpful to know if there are any certifications I need in this field.

With Best Regards,

Nandish

Like in any job field, no one can predict the future.  I am certified in NCSD for NetApp and I am going for my next cert, which is NCIE-SAN, also with NetApp.  Where you should start is basically getting your certifications in Server+ and MCITP.  Now, to be certified in NetApp, you will need to be a member of NetApp, so that may be difficult for you unless you are currently working with the company and their equipment.

Here is the link explaining the certifications and what they entail:

Hope this helps you out to some degree, but like I said at the beginning, I don’t have a crystal ball and things change all the time.  I remember when being a web page designer was the top job to have.  Now, I don’t even believe it is in the top ten.  Good luck in your career.

    Hi Nandish,
Welcome to ITKE! There are many storage experts in our community, and they may be able to offer some insight on skills you'll need -- but probably not job opportunities.
