Answer Wiki:
For Shipping Address validation I've worked with products running on Window servers never a native AS400 product. In this scenario you'd use some kind of remote command or FTP address data from the AS400 and scrub the file on the windows box and any then ftp back any negative results or a flag that shows the address was validated or failed. Here's a couple of AS400 native options but I can't speak for how well they work. <a href="http://www.uniserv.com/en/products/data-quality-functions-features/address-validation-data-capture.php"> http://www.uniserv.com/en/products/data-quality-functions-features/address-validation-data-capture.php</a> <a href="http://www.cms-summit.com/SoftwareSolutions/NameAddVal.htm"> http://www.cms-summit.com/SoftwareSolutions/NameAddVal.htm</a> <a href="http://www.auspost.com.au/BCP/0,1467,CH2414%257EMO19,00.html">http://www.auspost.com.au/BCP/0,1467,CH2414%257EMO19,00.html</a>

This just gave me an idea — if the Windows and Web solutions can be published as a web service, you could have your “i” applications consume that web service for the validation.

Hi,

I once wrote a front end to a package which did (UK) address validation on AS400. I don’t know if this is still around or available but it was called Quickstart/400 and used the GB Group’s address validation tools. GB are still around Here’s their web site.

Regards,

Martin Gilbert.
