Suppose I have a PF named 'Member' and I have added a new member 'Mbr1' to this pf. How can I add values to the second member(Mbr1)?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Depends on what tool you will be using to add data to the second member. Can you give us more information as to what your plan is for doing the update. Are you use SQL, RPG/COBOL program, a data file utility, etc.?

Sounds like you might be working from RPG or RPGLE You can override the file OVRDBF before you open the file .. prehaps before you call the program.  Alternatively in RPGLE you could use the EXTMBR on the F statement as shown:  http://www.mcpressonline.com/rpg/tips-and-techniques-extfile-and-extmbr.html

The article linked by Phil already shows an example. The Information Center has the EXTMBR(membername) topic that tells everything there is to know. An example for a member named MARCH would be EXTMBR(MARCH). What else is needed? You should show us what you have tried and describe any obstacles you are running into. -- Tom.
