I appologize in advance for my newb terminology but I have no experince in this at all. I have an environment running on vmware esxi 4.1 and HP lefthand san p4000 g2. currently their san is set RAID5 with one LUN and two datastores but they are running out of space and getting some major DISK IO problems, the disk IO is through the roof and the users are experiencing lags and delays not to mention to load their profiles takes forever i belive because the datastore is set to allow large files faster then small ones. We have purchased another San that we will be adding to the environment but here are the questions can we add the scond san to the original cluster and configure it in RAID 10? if so how much space will i have from 8* 450GB drives (1.5TB)?? if we can is it best practice to add a RAID 10 to the RAID 5 cluster or should i just set up the new san in its own seperate cluster?? what is the best way you guys recomend of setting it up??
Thanks in advance for any input that you might have.
