Adding files to TempDB

Do I need to restart SQL Server 2005, if I have added additional files to the TempDB?

Yes – tempdb is recreated at startup and it won’t recognise the additional files untl you re-start SQL Server

    Use the ALTER DATABASE ADD FILE command to add files without need to restart the server.
