Q:
Add new hard drive in ESXi 4
I've installed ESXi 4 on a 40gb ATA drive.  I've also added two 1tb Hitachi SATA drives using the controller on an ASUS M4A785-M motherboard.  How do I format those two drive to make them available as datastores for virtual machines?

Software/Hardware used:
ESXi 4 , ASUS M4A785-M motherboard. AMD Athlon II 4 620

Open the vSphere Client and connect to the ESXi host. On the configuration tab select Storage Adapters and make sure that the SATA card shows up. Then click on the Storage section and click Add Storage in the top right. This will walk you through adding those disks as Storage Volumes. As they are empty it will format them automatically when you add them.
