Answer Wiki:
As a domain administrator on the Domain Controller, go to administrative tools and find the Active Directory Users and Computers snap in. Find the user, right click and select Reset Password. =============== The user can press ctrl-alt-del and choose the Change Password option. ==================== He should probably avoid doing this work on the Domain Controller. It would make more sense for him to install the AdminPak.msi from Microsoft onto his Windows XP computer and administer the domain from his workstation. AdminPak.msi is available at:: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=86B71A4F-4122-44AF-BE79-3F101E533D95&displaylang=en If you're running Vista then you should setup a Virtual PC running Windows XP and then install the AdminPak there. I've had wierd / quirky results trying to do AD admin work using Vista. Good luck, Tom

In fact, there are many methods for resetting/recovering Windows password, but most of these methods just can reset/recover Windows local administrator or standard user password. A workable method to recover domain password is using Windows Password Rescuer Advanced.

Windows Password Rescuer Advanced can recover Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 Domain(Active directory) user password. To recover domain command user and domain administrator password, Windows Password Rescuer Advanced must run on the server computer. In additional, it also can recover Windows 2000/XP/VISTA/WIN7 or Windows 2000/2003/2008 local admin password.

To recover Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 domain administrator/user password, follow the steps below:

step 1. Download and install Windows Password Rescuer Advanced on an available computer and run it.

step 2. Use Windows Password Rescuer to create a Windows password recovery disk with CD/DVD or USB drive.

step 3. Insert the newly Windows password recovery disk to your locked server computer, boot the computer from CD/DVD-ROM or USB drive.

step 4. Reset Windows server 2000/2003/2008 domain password by a few cliks.

This method is simple and safe. hope can help you!
