Active Directory
Is it possible to setup active directory in a cloud server and have users authenticate from there? I want to distribute ReadyNas devices to my office locations to have access to the Egnyte Local Cloud through AD authentication. I don't want to expose my corporate domain controller to the internet.

Define “The Cloud”. You could easily enough setup a couple of small Windows 2008 VMs at Amazon EC2, setup a VPN between Amazon and your sites and then setup the EC2 machines to be domain controllers. The risk to doing this of course is that if your office internet goes down you can’t authenticate which is why you should always have at least one domain controller in each office.

Oh, and you should NEVER expose a domain controller to the internet, for ANY reason.

Still new to all this but does having a domain controller VM in the cloud server mean I’m exposing it to the internet? The domain controller has 2 NICS - one for private and other for public.
