Are you trying to launch the tools from the active directory machine? If not does the machine have admintools.msi installed on it? Is the primary DNS server of this machine the same address as the AD machine?
What are the exact error messages you are getting?
Have you checked that DNS is up and running?
Are there any errors in the event log of the AD server?
Clear any or all of the above issues up and you will be able to open your consoles again.
