Is it not getting power to it? USB connection bad? Or is the solid state memory unit fried? If it's not getting power to it you could try to plug it into a powered USB hub and increase the output a wee bit. Bad USB connection can be fixed with a soldering gun and a new connector. I've yet to find a fix for a sold state memory unit that goes bad... ============ I don't actually understand what you mean about thumb drive. When we are talking about thumb drive, we tend to refer to a portable flash disk that could store and access data easily. Accessing the data from a "Thumb Drive" or flash disk is simple as opening the drive letter of the disk.

Also have you called the manufacturer about this device? Is it still under warranty?

I have had some luck recovering data from thumb drives, using an application called badcopy pro. As long as the PC recognizes the unit as a drive even if it cannot access it, badcopy and other filerecovery software can often get access to files which where on teh drive

I would think the manufacturer could help…might be pricey but that many not be an issue if the data is worth a lot to you.
