In my company we want to give full access to the security log of Windows 2000 only to the security manager, but we want to give only read access to the support people, Is there how to do it ?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I would just go to the C:WINNTsystem32config directory and apply security on the files. Just select all the files, especially the .EVT files and right click and go to properties. In the properties you can set access to whomever you want to access the files and what permissions they will have. Dont get rid of the “SYSTEM” access though.

Adam, Why do you want to restrict access? One of the solutions we used in the past was a log aggregator. Basically, it was a third party product that collected all the logs (security and otherwise) and stored them for long periods of time. Users could view the logs and generate specific reports (users/timeframe/etc.). Let me know if this is of interest and I'll provide the vendor's name that we used. Thanks! Bill
