I’m no music expert but SMF is short for the Standard Midi Format file extension.I have seen many midi files used for gaming sound effects that contain just about anything… If  there are specific sounds you are looking to capture, come back with some more details and what you plan on using to record them.

    "...can it contain any noise?"

What do you mean by "noise"?  Are you asking if a music file always contains a perfect copy? Or are you asking if ambient sounds during recording become part of the recording?

In general, smf is a standard midi file that allows developers to transfer sequenced midi files. There are several 3rd party tools to convert and the noise depends on what software you are using now. As you mentioned, there must be a filter procedure to reduce noise.
