 About DNS
DNS, TCP, UDP
DNS uses UDP instead of TCP. If a DNS packet is lost, there is no automatic recovery. Does this cause a problem, and if so, how is it solved?

Answer Wiki:
UDP is 'lossy' protocol and system implementers know that. If you submit a 'name resolution' request to the network and DNS doesn't answer, you try - try again. In Windows there are several paths for name resolution and it is not a problem per se. If DNS were TCP instead you would have three to five times the traffic to get the same result.
