Friends, i am using 1gb ram, 80 gb hard drive, i am trying to install 9i on my desktop pc of above config. After the installation of database, before installation of configure tools, oracle db configuration assistant and oracle intelligent agent are failed to install..(The first two were installed successfully..ok)i tried multiple times but in vain. There is an error message displayed as "invalid END header format"..can u tell me what this problem is..i need it hurry...I am not great with this 9i.
To mention u..i am using 9i only..not 9i personal to install on my desktop...are 9i and 9i-personal different versions? Is that true?

Yes, 9i and personal 9i are different versions. You have not listed your operating system. I am presuming it is some flavor of windows. The software you are installing needs to be the release for your particular operating environment, so double check the compatability of the software with your o/s. Presuming you have the right release of Oracle for your o/s, make sure you have the necessary privileges to install software on the platform. I would recommend getting an installation guide and double checking all system and pre-installation requirements. You can find documentation at http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/index.html

Also, the installation files could be corrupt.

If you downloaded the software, try downloading it again if you have already checked what Jcmdba mentioned.

For educational purposes, you could install Oracle Database 11g

And here is an installation guide:
