Will RPG IV programs generated using the increase field sizes in 6.1 be able to run on previous versions (i.e. V5R4)?

Hi,

I don't think so. If new functions are not backward compatibles, I think that new field lengths will not be either.

I can try compiling a program with parameter TGTRLS(*PRV).

I don’t think you can go backwards. That is why they want you to convert the objects when upgrading to 6.1
