5.1.1 e-mail account does not exist at the organization
Hope you will be able to assist me on the following – Apparently we were hosting “domain.com” in our AD alongside our primary domain – Gryphtech.com Now that they have deleted the domain from the AD – they are unable to send email to anyone at “domain.com” Whenever an email is sent to a user@domain.com – the sender receives the following NDR – Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: -Technical Test - Sent: 5/7/2010 2:35 PM The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: robert@maximum60.com on 5/7/2010 2:35 PM The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address. [gtmail01.gryphtech.com][/gtmail01.gryphtech.com]I have ran “NTDSUtil.” and I am seeing only one domain in the list – Can you advise me on what other steps can be taken. We suspect the AD still have stale records for this domain – but I am unable to confirm.

Answer Wiki:
If they deleted the domain then mail sent to it will of course fail. The domain can be added to Exchange as an accepted email address by the Exchange Admins.
