3Par and EMC problesm

SAN, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, EMC, 3PAR, HBA

I have a Sun x4100 has two qlogix qle2460 HBAs both connected to a 3Par SAN and a EMC cx700 SAN. When both HBA's are active in non-failover mode we can see the LUNs in /proc/scsi/qla2xxx/3 and 4 - BUT fdisk does not see the devices. If we have the HBAs set in failover mode we only see the LUNs on one HBA in this case 3 and can see them in fdisk -l. We need to be able to see the LUNs on both HBAs as well as with fdisk -l ro create volumes etc. Anyone have any idea if this is possible?

Thanks
Mike

Hey:

Let me try to understand what you're trying to do:

2 HBA's going through 2 fabrics to a CX700?.

I assume you have connected SPA0|SPB1 to FabricA and SPB0|SPA1 to FabricB and done the zoning

here are some checks

1) check if the server is registered with the array
2) is the server and the luns you want to see in a storage group? (assuming acceslogix is turned on)
3) do you have powerpath installed (Failovermode 1)

If the above is done, you should see 4 raw devices (paths) for each power path device. the powerpath devices should be called emcpowera, emcpoweerb, and so on
