Can we have two logical partitions with the same system name? What are the pros and cons of having a different system name(s) for each partition?

First, please define “system name”. Often, a host name and a system name are confused; so it might help if we know exactly what you’re asking about. Technically, it doesn’t matter because it’s possible to have both LPARS with the same host and system names. But just because it’s possible doesn’t mean it will work for all uses. It depends on how the two “systems” need to communicate with each other. — Tom
