Lync Server Installation Error: Prerequisite installation failed: Wmf2008R2

Error: Script failed (code “ERROR_NEED_MAJOR_UPGRADE_USE_IMP_EXP”) when installing “CentralMgmtStore”

Got this error during a Lync 2010 deployment. Based on all the research I did this is due to the server being deployed from a tempalte but not sysprepped. You also can't sysprep it later, it must be done before you start the deployment.
