Hi folks! Web security is a popular request these days. Many vendors offer this feature such as url filtering in their firewall products.

However these features typically come at an additional cost that is not easy to swallow. Enter OpenDNS! OpenDNS is a web based solution that provides you with DNS servers where you can filter URL’s and categories of content that you don’t want users to go to.

You can get a free account for personal use to try it out, and you can get an enterprise account for a decent price point. You can lock down the DNS settings in your group policies so people don’t change them, and you can block all DNS except your allowed servers at the firewall in conjunction with using OpenDNS to have an easy solution for web security!

You can try it out here.
