The user experience – RIM’s problem

Hi folks! So I was thinking long and hard about what the issue was with RIM. What can they do to innovate? What is it that sets the competitors apart from RIM?

In my mind it’s the user experience. It’s actually quite funny, I have friends with mobile devices from all the major players and the other day the funniest thing happened. My friend with the BlackBerry wanted to look something up on the web. He asked if he could borrow my iPhone. I started laughing and asked him why he just doesn’t use his own BlackBerry. He said it’s because he could do it quicker and easier on my iPhone.

Now I think I just hit the nail on the head there. It comes down to the user experience. Unless we’re talking about email on a BlackBerry, every other thing you do on a smartphone is vastly superior on the iPhone and Android platforms.

RIM needs to do something about this and quickly.
