Hi folks, just as computer and smartphone security are important, so is tablet security! Any good BYOD strategy should incorporate security in some shape or form.

Kaspersky builds an endpoint security product for tablets that helps secure your devices. Kaspersky is one of the few companies that has a total solution to protect all endpoints in your corporate network.

I currently use Kaspersky Tablet Security for my Samsung Galaxy Tab and it works flawlessly. It doesn’t interfere with my regular user experience at all.

Hi folks! So even Cisco has followed suit with the likes of other companies and has thrown in the towel with their Cius tablet.

Even though the Cius was Android based, it was not nearly as nice as some of the offerings that are out there now, and if Cisco wanted to compete it would have had to have gotten much more aggressive with their hardware release schedule for the Cius with new improvements.

I think in the end Cisco made the right decision and should stick to networking which it knows best.

However, Adobe has just announced that they will indeed support Flash for the new Ice Cream sandwich operating system. This means they are making good on their promise to do a final release of their product.

As time goes by this will be phased out in favor of HTML5. You can read more here.

Hi folks! So my birthday just recently flew by and i got a great little gift from friends and family! I got a tablet!

Specifically the Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1. I have used iPads, touch pads, slates etc. But i hadn’t really used Android yet in the tablet market. So I am quite happy to play around with the Galaxy tab. I haven’t rooted it yet and am just using it as is for the time being.

I have to say it’s quite the nice piece of work, but not as smooth as the iPad 2. Having said that, I much prefer the Galaxy Tab due to the plethora of flash websites that are still out on the Internet. As time passes and people move over to HTML5 then this really won’t be an issue anymore.

Stay tuned for my experiences using the Galaxy Tab as an IT consultant in the corporate world!

Hi folks! So back to MDM! I mentioned that if you are forced into using mobile devices in the work place and you can’t wait, there are technologies out there right now that can help.

One of those is Citrix as i mentioned. But what can you use to track and wipe devices that are not BlackBerries managed under BES? Well for you managed services folks out there, Kaseya has a great solution. Kaseya now has a Mobile Device Management module you can purchase from them.

This allows you to not only remotely wipe devices, but also geo-locate the devices. Not a bad idea. This is accomplished through the installation of an agent on the mobile device which is downloaded through the various mobile device app stores available.

Hi folks! So it’s kind of funny, lots of people rushed out and bought HP tablets. But now I have a few people coming to me for help with issues.

Turns out that there are quite a few issues with sluggishness and WiFi connectivity problems. The question is, will HP address these issues or not if they are looking to spin off PSG?

In any case, there is a hack out there to run Android on the HP tablet so maybe that might be a better alternative.

Hi folks! So with the HP tablet craze, it got me thinking about buying a tablet. Just for a second anyways….:)

I’m thinking I don’t want WebOS but i wouldn’t mind trying out Android. I think it is at the moment the only viable competitor to iPad.

I was thinking of purchasing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. The only thing I wish is that it would be a little bit cheaper.

I think a lot of the iPad competitors could stand to lower their prices, it would provide a great way to eat away at Apple’s market share!

You can read a review of the tablet here. But in a nutshell the Galaxy Tab is a great device for the Android platform and Samsung has made a great high resolution display! It definitely has the geek factor going for it!

With HP waving the white flag, who is going to challenge Apple’s dominance in the tablet space? Here’s hoping somebody buys PSG from HP and keeps the tablet alive. As I’ve always said, competition is a good thing and a lack of choice can only hurt the consumer in the end.
