Hi folks! So based on the latest information from RIM’s last quarter and news of Jim Balsillie resigning – people are talking about what’s next for RIM.

One of the biggest rumours floating around is the acquisition of RIM or some of it’s patents. That by far is what keeps RIM in the game today still. Things like BES, BlackBerry instant messenger, BlackBerry’s upcoming Mobile Fusion to manage all platforms, and the famous BlackBerry Push and BlackBerry keyboard.

Who could benefit this in my mind? I’m thinking either Microsoft or Samsung, or maybe even a combination of both. If those companies joined forces and bought up RIM or at the very least licensed RIM’s patents, they could make some killer phones. Phones that could really stand a chance against the iPhone and Android onslaught.

Time will tell if this happens, let’s see how this plays out. You can read more here.

Hi folks! So you’ve obviously heard by now about the acquisition of Motorola by Google. This is just further evidence of the close ties between the telephony world and the computer world.

Really more and more these days you see a merging of these two industries and this acquisition is just another example of that. This is great for Google which could help them bolster their offerings in the Android market in their eternal battle against Apple.

However it’s not so good for the other vendors who have historically made products on the Android platform such as Samsung. I can’t imagine a deal with Motorola bodes well for them.

If anything I’m sure we will see Samsung doing more with Windows phone in the future. Nokia actually made a public statement to that effect. Nokia seems to think that there future will be with Windows phone and that Google’s acquisition of Motorola will put the rest of the phone makers at a disadvantage. I can’t say I disagree with Nokia on this one. Time will tell.

BGR found the hole and apparently it has to do with the lock screen. The hole allows a user to bypass the lock screen on Android without having to enter the pattern.

Hi folks, so one of the biggest announcements lately is from the mobile world.

Samsung and Microsoft have announced that they are joining forces in the mobile war! With Apple and Samsung embroiled in a deep legal battle, it only makes sense that Samsung has run to Microsoft for shelter.

This will enable them to cross-license and implement technology that Apple can’t sue over. Then Samsung can focus on moving forward unhindered!

Hi folks! So with the HP tablet craze, it got me thinking about buying a tablet. Just for a second anyways….:)

I’m thinking I don’t want WebOS but i wouldn’t mind trying out Android. I think it is at the moment the only viable competitor to iPad.

I was thinking of purchasing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. The only thing I wish is that it would be a little bit cheaper.

I think a lot of the iPad competitors could stand to lower their prices, it would provide a great way to eat away at Apple’s market share!

You can read a review of the tablet here. But in a nutshell the Galaxy Tab is a great device for the Android platform and Samsung has made a great high resolution display! It definitely has the geek factor going for it!

Hi folks! So you probably have heard about the lawsuit Apple brought against Samsung. This was for copying the look and feel of the iPhone with their own devices.

Well now this trial has taken an interesting turn. Samsung is requesting to see Apple’s upcoming devices such as the iPad 3 and the iPhone 5. I think it will be a cold day in hell before Apple gives in to show these devices.

Granted, the terms are for only the lawyers to look at the devices, not any engineers, but still, this has got to make Steve Jobs extremely ticked off! It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

You can read more about it here.
