There’s even an app for IP exhaustion!

Hi folks! So as I previously mentioned in my blogs, the age of IPv4 is quickly dying out. The exhaustion of the address space will probably happen some time in 2012 according to industry experts.

So how does one track this if they have an iPhone? Well of course, there’s an app for that! There’s an app called the IPv4 Exhaustion Counter that shows a countdown of the IP’s as they disappear.

RDP Client for the iPhone 4

Hi folks, for those of you that like network administration on the run, i have a great app for you. One of those things that is super important as a network admin is the ability to RDP (remote desktop) into a computer or server.

The problem is that most apps don’t support Windows 7 or Windows 2008 Server. Well never fear, iTAP RDP is here. It fully supports Windows 7 and 2008 and works great.

Using this you can connect using your iPhone to a server via rdp and manage it if you are away from a laptop or any other type of computer. This works in a pinch when you need to do some work and would rather not drive forever to get back to a computer to do some work.

This is a great app for those of you on-call and on the run!

Rackspace app for the iPhone to manage your cloud servers

So do any of you guys do hosting? Well I do, and I love using Rackspace. They are a great hosting provider for hosting in the cloud.

One of the coolest apps is an app from Rackspace which allows me to reboot my servers using my iPhone. Now that’s cool! Apps like this really increase the usability of a smart phone and i’m happy that Rackspace went and created it.

If you guys have a Rackspace account I encourage you to give it a try!
