Security for your tablet!

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks, just as computer and smartphone security are important, so is tablet security! Any good BYOD strategy should incorporate security in some shape or form.

Kaspersky builds an endpoint security product for tablets that helps secure your devices. Kaspersky is one of the few companies that has a total solution to protect all endpoints in your corporate network.

I currently use Kaspersky Tablet Security for my Samsung Galaxy Tab and it works flawlessly. It doesn’t interfere with my regular user experience at all.

Samsung Galaxy S III vs the HTC One X

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks, so both phones are out but which one rules the roost? I guess that depends on who you talk to. My personal preference is the HTC, it’s such a great phone.

However in the tests it seems these two devices square off pretty evenly depending on what you want out of the phone.

I for one was expecting a bit more from Sasmsung this time around and thought the S III would have gone much farther. I guess we’ll have to wait for the next iteration to see where things take us.

Say Goodbye to the Cisco Cius

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks! So even Cisco has followed suit with the likes of other companies and has thrown in the towel with their Cius tablet.

Even though the Cius was Android based, it was not nearly as nice as some of the offerings that are out there now, and if Cisco wanted to compete it would have had to have gotten much more aggressive with their hardware release schedule for the Cius with new improvements.

I think in the end Cisco made the right decision and should stick to networking which it knows best.

The Fall of RIM

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks! So it seems like things still aren’t going that great for RIM. Here we are in the second quarter of 2012 and all we keep hearing are promises about BlackBerry 10.

Don’t get me wrong, I hope it knocks are socks off, but after being underwhelmed by RIM for years, it’s hard to have faith.

Now top executives have left and we have news of upcoming job cuts. This doesn’t bode well for the BlackBerry maker, whose stock is trading extremely low.

Acer Aspire S5 UltraBook

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks! So the release date for the Acer Aspire UltraBook is fast approaching!

For those of you that don’t know, this UltraBook is deemed to be one of the few that can actually stand toe to to with the MacBook Air. It debuted at CES 2012 and they said that it should be arriving in Q2 this year.

I will probably buy one of these myself and compare it to the MacBook Air I already have and see how it fairs. You can get more details about the Acer Aspire S5 UltraBook here.

SSD on a Budget!

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks! As I mentioned before, one of the best ways to have a fast laptop is to buy one with an SSD drive in it.

Having an SSD drive will help with those boot times and with resuming your laptop from hibernation/sleep modes. However not all of you are fortunate enough to own a laptop with SSD, and not everyone wants to spend the coin on a new laptop.

If your current laptop supports upgrading to an SSD drive, you can take advantage of the budget SSD drives from Kingston. The Hyper-X 3K SSD.
