Hi folks! So it’s no secret that SSD is the way to go these days if you want blazing fast speeds. As evidenced by the plethora of ultrabook announcements, they all come stock with SSD drives.
SSD is great not just for weight savings but for performance as well. Hot off the acquisition of Indilinx a year ago, OCZ has announced the release of the Vertex 4, there latest flagship drive.
The OCZ Vertex 4 is one of the fastest drives on the market and available in sizes up to 512 GB in size. You can read more here for performance numbers.

Hi folks! So hot off the launch of the new HTC One X phone, there are already issues. Apparently there are wireless issues with the device and HTC has asked customers to contact them if they are having issues.
I own an HTC One XL (a variant of the HTC One X) and I have been having tons of wireless connectivity issues. I’m actually surprised at how many problems I’m having. A friend of mine has the same phone and he’s not having near as many problems as me.
The only thing I can figure is this might be a production issue with the phone. I have filed a support ticket with HTC but have yet to hear back from them. Hopefully they’ll contact me soon.
Hi folks! So more often than not, it can be quite difficult for a network administrator to track down a potential problem on their network. When running a large network with hundreds or thousands of ports, it’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Well if you have a network monitoring system (an mms), then you can easily have your devices report back to you on what’s going on in your network at a glance. There are many products out there available for this and most of them will let you try out their products for free.
The key thing is to ensure you purchase proper network equipment that supports netflow or sflow so you can get proper reporting on what’s happening in your network.
Hi folks! So after much waiting, the ICS update is available for Telus phones like the Samsung Galaxy S II X. By doing a Kies update, you can access the latest firmware.
Make sure your phone is charge before you perform the update otherwise you will get an error. Also ensure you are not clicking around on your phone when doing the update since you don’t want to interrupt the firmware update.
Once updated, you will have access to all the new ICS features! If you haven’t done it yet, launch Kies and give it a try!
If you don’t have Kies installed, you can download it from the Samsung web site here.
Hi folks! So you may have heard, RIM had another horrible announcement the other day. In the wake of crappy quarterly losses RIM has had to slash jobs to the tune of 5000 people.
Despite RIM’s best efforts to stay afloat, they continue to bleed out and things are looking grim for the BlackBerry make. Also BlackBerry 10’s launch is delayed. Slashing jobs isn’t going to help them finish it any faster either.
Of course they don’t really have a choice with all the money they are losing. It seems like it will just be a matter of time before they release a statement saying they have been bought by another company.
Hi folks! Sometimes even using free tools to help you troubleshoot your wireless just won’t work. Why is this?
Well sometime the interference you are experiencing can’t be detected by your wireless network card. Instead you need to use something called a spectrum analyzer to detect all signals in the wireless ranges, not just other wireless access points.
This is where the product Wi-Spy comes in. They are the same people that make the Inssider product, but this product you have to pay for. Having said that, it is fairly cheap compared to other similar products in the market.
By using this, you can detect things like Microwave ovens, baby monitors, cordless phones etc. that are interfering with your wireless installation. A handy tool for any wireless guru!

Hi folks! Sometimes installing WiFi can just be a big pain. Sometimes, it just doesn’t work as advertised. In those cases, you need to a bit of troubleshooting.
More likely than not, you could be located in a zone with lots of contention for the same wireless channels you are using. One of the easiest ways to figure this out is with some freely available tools.
One of my favourite free tools to use is Inssider. This tool allows you to see what channels each WiFi system is using and allows you to plan accordingly. It provides lots of useful information for a free product!
