BlackBerry Z10 WPA2 Enterprise Setup

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks! So I have heard that some people are having issues setting up BlackBerry Z10′s with WPA2 enterprise.

This is actually an easy fix. Most people select MSCHAPv2 and PEAP but forget to select one setting. Choose dual band, or 2.4 or 5.0 ghz depending on how your wireless network is setup and then it will associate and work. If it doesn’t associate the first time, just try again and should work.

Newer AP’s and 3×3 MIMO

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks! When shopping for a centralized wireless solution, there are a plethora of AP (access point) options out there. Of course not all AP’s are created equal.

Usually buried deep in the specs are ratings for the AP’s such as whether it supports 3×3 mimo, and on how many radios at the same time. When comparing wireless vendors it’s important to check these items if these features are important to you. It’s very easy to accidently to buy an AP where 3×3 MIMO is only supported on one radio and not the other.

Another thing to look into is lifetime warranty. Some of the better vendors out there will give you lifetime warranty so you don’t have to spend tons of money on support you don’t need. Keep an eye out for this and you’ll be a happy camper!

Security issues with BlackBerry Reported

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks! Apparently there are security issues with BlackBerry according to the Canadian Government.

Apparently pin to pin messaging is easy to intercept because the encryption key is not unique and is the same for all BlackBerries. This basically throws water on the fabled BlackBerry security reputation.

Brocade Network Advisor

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks! Centralized management is a key topic for discussion in IT these days. So if you could do that for both storage and networking would you?

Of course you would! Enter BNA (Brocade Network Advisor)! It allows you to manage all of your Brocade equipment from one pane of glass.

BNA gives you a single view for all of your gear, and allows you to things such as reporting, traffic analysis and configuration management. This makes the IT admin’s job much simpler with less room for error.

VMware Aware Switching with Brocade VCS

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks! So how would you like your switches to be aware of VMware as VM’s move? You can do this with Brocades VCS!

Brocade VCS allows your switches to communicate with VMware and create port profiles tied to MAC addresses. This allows the profile to move along with the MAC, regardless of what port it’s communicating on.

BlackBerry Z10

Raj Perumal Raj Perumal Profile: Raj Perumal

Hi folks! So the new BB Z10 is out, and what does everyone think? It’s been out for a while now and I have a few friends that have tried it. I find that people who have used Android and went to the new BlackBerry aren’t as happy as they thought they would be.

However existing BlackBerry users have found it to be a huge upgrade. Even my own parents switched to BB Z10 from just regular cell phones and they love it. I guess as a first smartphone if you haven’t owned one before it would be pretty good.

I think given some time and some extra apps it could come into it’s own, but it doesn’t really do anything that other smartphones already do.
