Hi folks! So Microsoft is taking an interesting approach to Office 365 slas.
They are offering customers money back if there is a certain amount of down time. A lot of people on the Internet are making fun of them for that, but I on the other hand think this is a great idea.
Why? Because outages are inevitable. You can build in redundancy to your heart’s desire but at the end of the day there is still the human factor and humans aren’t perfect. All it takes is for some network admin to type something in wrong and the whole house comes crashing down. That is a reality and I applaud Microsoft’s approach to at least trying to ease the burden to their customers.
