– Interesting – I knew the story was about like that but I would like to add that making Vision the center of all this was the wrong thing to do. If you are going to do that you get a great company like Lakeview or iTera and then you have them buy up companies like Vision who IMHO has not done anything right in some time. To bad Thoma Cressey Bravo is not savvy enough to know that Vision is not a decent customer loved company like the other two and in the end we will see the fall out. I am sure the other HA firms out there are just licking their chops!

If this is not a late April Fool’s joke then I am in tears to know that Vision Solutions is going to ruin what is another great HA company. I guess if you can’t do great things then you acquire and destroy your competition. Let me say it again for all of you who missed it. OMS and ODS are big fat bloated pieces of software. That is why they purchased iTera, becasue iTer’s Echo2 is nice, lite and flexible.

I am now to the point where I say to hell with Vision and their crap. They are IMHO a worthless company hell bent on making the HA world on the iSeries complete crap. If you can’t own the market you simply buy it and degrade it to your level. Nice going Vision.
Vision Solutions as I have stated before has the worst Service Desk known to man. They hire people who can’t spell iSeries much less tell you how journaling works. They are however very good at blaming problems on bandwidth and other erroneous problems that have nothing to do with the issue. They subscribe the take two PTFs and call us back tomorrow theory.

To bad they could not leave a little competition out there since Lakeview was beating the pants of of them all over the world.

There is a bigger problem here. Vision was and still is a slow and lumbering company. They are slow to change and even slower when it comes to HA performance. The iTera purchase made sence if you were looking at Vision and being honest, the purchase or merger was smart for Vision, of course not so smart for iTera, but it gave Vision a really powerful light efficent HA solution to add to the stable of products. The Lakeview purchase is just dumbfounding. There is no way to make heads or tails of it. Why would you buy the other 800 lbs. gorilla in the market unless you already know your OMS and ODS product which goes head to head with MIMIX is crap and in order to compete you need to replace it and maybe Orion too, then of course it makes sense. I am still confused as to why Lakeview did not buy Vision, not that would have been the smart thing to do.

Hey Pete Robie, can you try to not screw up Lakeview support too the way you are doing with iTera? Lakeview like iTera love their customers and don’t try every stunt in the book to hang up on them, please don’t try to dazzle them with you certs and awards cause like I said in the end they are only for the dog and pony show doing the pre-sale. Lakeview has a RUN BOOK, you might want to try to do that for all your customers! One of the many things MIMIX does right!

It is truly a very sad day for the iSeries market. Nothing good can come of this and in the end the loser will be me and you the iSeries owners having to deal with the likes of Vision Solutions, Pete Robie and his crack staff of know nothings! (no offense to Bob, Michael and the iTera Crew.)
Looks like becoming a JAVA programmer is starting to look better and better each day. IBM should be furious and all of you should be too. You have no idea what just happen and while I may sound like a doom and gloom blogger I would submit that I am the only one being honest and open enough to admit that this is a dark time for HA on the iSeries.
