Although I like the control, it becomes cumbersome when they expect one person to know each and every aspect while maintaining my responsibilities as a Supervisor/Engineer/Administrator and liason between the company and IBM for our mainframe.

The other end of the spectrum is having to compete with the agressive people in a mutli iseries personnel shop.

Most days are great, but some days can be way too far of a chellenge.

I would agree. I am the System i Admin for my company. I have some other people who also know it but I am the man when it comes to day in day out admin. We are a large company with over 1000 JDE users and about 500 BPCS Users. I have 3 iSeries Systems all inside one 570, It's a pretty big box. Currently 8 CPU and over 60 GB of main memory with about 7 TB of disk as well. Just proof that the iSeries is easy to use and admin all with one person. I am pretty busy most days, but I have time to keep it running and stay up 24 hours a day.
