What is being dubbed the best tablet on the market today (well it’s not quite here yet) is almost ready to be released to the masses. Some stores even have demo units of the Transformer Prime. What I hear is that it will be release December 19th, but some say December 8th or 12th, so I am not too sure what to believe. geek.com states a US release date of December 19th, so I will have to go with that. I already pre-ordered two of them, so lets hope it makes it in time for my trip to Las Vegas on the 25th! I can give you a nice little review in January. Here are the specs. Note that it is a Quad Core CPU, but has a 5th core to deal with mundane background tasks, I believe this is how it can get 12 hours of battery life while having a 1.4Ghz Quad core powerhouse processor.

I also wanted to include this link where it shows the Transformer Prime running Ice Cream Sandwich OS. So this Christmas holiday I have 2 things to be really excited for, the new Asus Transformer Prime, and my Vegas trip. Merry Xmas to me!

**UPDATE** Dec 7th 2011

It Doesnt look like the Transformer Prime will hit stores on the 15th like they wanted. Apparently and I have seen this at 2 sources already, the WIFI on model TF201 didn’t meet Asus’ quality standards and they are working on a solution. This can’t be good. I know Apple put their WIFI antenna behind the plastic “Apple” logo to boost their WIFI signals… What is Asus going to do?

The Pierre Cardin PC-7006 Tablet PC is perfectly sized to fit in the palm of your hand yet practical enough for life on the go. Powered by the ever-popular Android operating system and packed with a fantastic array of features, the communication and entertainment possibilities are endless.

Initially one would think that this Tablet will be quote expensive, well it isn’t, its going to sell for about 450 US. Not bad for style and usability.

Now here is something interesting… a HDD that is WiFi connected, any web capable device can use it, if the media is native to the device, or you can use apps to convert media.

“This shiny, streamlined black box is about the size of a couple of decks of cards. Plug it into a Mac or PC via USB 3.0 (or 2.0), fill it up with music, movies and photos, and then enjoy them on any Wi-Fi device — if the files are compatible. Inside this attractive package is a rechargeable battery that powers the drive for five hours, a Wi-Fi access point and 500GB of hard drive storage space.”

via Mashable Article

Personally I wouldn’t go near that device, not because it probably the neatest thing created in a while, but because it just wouldn’t be worth 200$ to me, 500gb is a little on the small side, once they start releasing larger capacities with the same if not better functionality then I might bite, until then, those who do purchase the device, enjoy!

I know this isn’t exactely my standard technical article, but it shows just how much power they can cram into such a small unit. Meet the PSP2 or what Sony is calling “Next-Generation Portable” I doubt the name will stick, its just too vague and not really applicable, as what would they call the PSP3, the Next-Next Generation Portable… see what I mean? Anyways, Sony says that the PSP2 is as powerful as the PS3, some would say they need proof, well they got it. Hideo Kojima, ran demos Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance, and Killzone. Here is a small insert from vg247.com

It’ll have two analogue sticks, front and rear touchpads, a 5-inch OLED screen, 3G, WiFI, SixAxis motion controls, an eject button on the back and a physical media slot.

Hideo Kojima detailed the system in five key points: a revolutionary control system, location-based entertainment, social connection, augmented reality features and PS Suite compatibility.

So there you have it, a true “Next-Gen” Portable device, no confirmation on pricing though. Its expected to be release in Japan for the holiday season, your guess is as good as mine as to when it will be release here, but I’d say 6-8 months after Japan, maybe more.

Hey everyone! I was just browsing around the net earlier and came upon this news story… could this be Microsoft’s answer to the iPad, a Netvertible? Gigabyte will soon release the Gigabyte T1000, while it might not net as smooth an interface as the iPad, i think upgradingto 2GB+ of ram, would make the experience pleasurable. The specs below are from a cached version of Gigabyte’s website, not sure why they pulled it down, maybe it was posted too early. There is no pricing mentioned either…

Well Apple is finally going to release its version of the tablet PC, its just under two months to launch and it is said that there is no Canadian data deal. With the low cost of the tablet, it might seem attractive, for the WIFI version that is, but the 3G model will incur a data plan of sorts. South of the boarder AT&T are offering data plans for 14.99US(250MB/mnth) / 29.99US (Unlimited Data). Personally i think this wont stop the masses from adopting this new “toy”, for myself, I’d rather wait till Acer, Dell, or HP release a more powerful netbook.

A 16-gigabyte model that can access 3G mobile networks sells for US$629. The priciest iPads are US$699 for a 64-gigabyte Wi-Fi model and US$829 for a 64-gigabyte 3G model.

Air Canada is currently testing WIFI service provided by Gogo Internet Service. The service is available on a per flight basis for 9.95(Laptop) and 7.95(Smartphone)

Initially, the system will be available only in the continental United States via Aircell, which has built a high-speed mobile network for commercial and business aviation.

Air Canada plans to extend the system to other North American routes with a Canadian air-to-ground network.

The airline also released last month a free BlackBerry application that lets travellers track flight information, such as schedule changes.

I personally would pay the premium to be able to read online material, keep in touch with all my Black Berry Messenger Friends, receive emails, etc. So i hope that they implement this soon, as I am scheduled to take a long flight over the ocean in March!
