Follow the below instructions.

Manage -> Event Notification -> email configuration

Email Address – user@example.com
Email Comment - VMware Storage MSA 2012i
Mail Server – 192.168.1.35
Domain Name – example.com
Sender Name – Alerts
Email Notification Enable – Enabled

You may have to allow anonymous relay from the IP Address of the MSA as well.
