Sandy Bridge then Ivy Bridge

These are the code names for the next two successive chipsets by Intel.
Sandy Bridge processor socket will be 225mm², they will also have an improved memory controller, with a maximum of 25.6GB/sec bandwidth. Included is the support of octacore processors(future release).
Ivy Bridge will be a 22nm die shrink of the Sandy Bridge architecture. We might see a release midway through 2011. Ivy Bridge is supposed to have about double the graphics performance of Sandy Bridge, including direct integration of a DirectX 11 graphics chip planted directly into the processor die.
The next chipset in line will be the Haswell chipset, which will be released sometime in 2010. Details are sketchy so I won’t discuss them.
