A new technology that is said to complement USB 3.0 not replace it. Currently available in the new Mac Book Pro. LaCie has also released its Thunderbolt compatible “Little Big Disk”.

Thunderbolt can transmit both raw data and audio-video information simultaneously, using existing DisplayPort and PCI-Express data protocols. With each Thunderbolt port having two data transmission channels, the technology can transmit and receive data at the same time–and at its top speed.

Apparently you can even “daisy chain” up to 7 devices at the same time. If you would like to know more, check this link out.
