Still down? Is the only question I can ask, or care to ask, all day I have had service disruptions, mitigated only by connecting to WIFI, so if most of RIM’s services were working on WIFI why was nothing working when connected direct to Rogers?
“The messaging and browsing delays that some of you are still experiencing were caused by a core switch failure within RIM’s infrastructure,” RIM said in a statement released Wednesday.
“Although the system is designed to failover to a back-up switch, the failover did not function as previously tested. As a result, a large backlog of data was generated and we are now working to clear that backlog and restore normal service as quickly as possible.”
RIM declined to comment further on the service outage or to make a spokesperson available.
As I speak, i believe its still down… everything seems okay, except for Hotmail. Corporate mail, phone, BBM, and text seem stable, although I will not be disconnecting from WIFI to find out where the issue lies… one can only hope that services will be 100% tomorrow am…
