” I am offered to work in Iraq!!, by a non government organization under UN to help Iraq to recover the administrative government activity with IT and Communication Infrastructure “. Budget ??, “No Issues“, one of UN official says.
Iraqi government :
According to CIA, Iraqi includes 18 administrative divisions https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/iz.html
They are Al Anbar, Al Basrah, Al Muthanna, Al Qadisiyah, An Najaf, Arbil, As Sulaymaniyah, At Ta’mim, Babil, Baghdad, Dahuk, Dhi Qar, Diyala, Karbala’, Kurdistan Regional Government*, Maysan, Ninawa, Salah ad Din, Wasit.
IT and Communication Infrastructure:
As stated on the document, that I need to develop high-speed, reliable, secure and good performance infrastructure for IT and Communication for all of those administrative divisions. 18 sites located scattered around Iraq territory.
All of us know the media for communication is wired and wireless. Wired communication media is using physical media, either cooper or fiber optic, while wireless communication is not using any physical medias. Wireless communication uses air or space as a media. Both media have their own strengt and weakness’.
In term of speed, both media are competing each other but wired surely beats wireless.
Wireless communication can reach up to 4 Gbps per link http://www.dragonwaveinc.com/products-horizon-quantum.asp and more speed to come.
Fiber Optic can forward 100 Gbps of data in one link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEUDiRWNmII and more speed to come.
I consider wireless is less reliable, less secure compare to wired. Although you may argue my opinion. On the other hand, wireless communication can be implemented in shorter amount of time with flexibility to move from one location to other.
To achieve both advantages from wireless and wired media of communication, I decide to implement both, ie : fiber optic communication and satellite communication.
Implementation of Fiber Optic Cable and Satellite Communication.
