I attempted to start an Austin data haven a while ago where people would create micro-data pools with their home servers and lend the free space to anyone who wanted to use it. The remote users would be responsible for all encryption of said data. Cleversafe is building a similar distributed network. It will be interesting to see how they overcome some of the challenges that I ran into. This is a very cool idea.
