Accenture, a leading IT consulting business, saw its consulting revenue decline 2 percent in U.S. dollars in its May-ended third quarter, compared with the same period last year. However, other channel companies offering technology advisory services and systems integration don’t seem to be having these same problems. Gartner pegs the IT services growth rate at a modest 2.2 percent for this year, but predicts that pace will quicken to 4.6 percent in 2014 and 5.2 percent in both 2015 and 2016. Why is Accenture seeing different results than many other companies in the IT consulting space?

Is such a prediction good for big data’s future in that companies are willing to invest in it without expecting a large return; or is it bad news in that companies may move away from deployment as the expected returns are low?
