During a recent meeting with the media, Cisco executives said they are looking to double their software business over the next five years through acquisitions and emerging technology (especially software-defined networking). Do you think this new strategy will work for Cisco? Could it backfire on the company?

  1. Opportunities in the midmarket
  2. The importance in the cloud
  3. The imperative to begin transitioning to a "hybrid IT" business model today
In reference to point #3, what do you think this hybrid IT business model that they speak of will look like?

They will tell you it's Cisco InterCloud, which is Cisco technology on-prem and Cisco-enabled Cloud SPs, all linked together, all running Cisco technology on both ends.

Connecting 2 Switches via Fiber (Cisco SF 300 - 48p) and creating VLANS using web interface

I am working on to deploy 2 Cisco Managed Switches (Cisco SF300- 48p) and connect it over Multi-mode Fiber optic cable (50 Microns OM3). 1st Switch will be on floor 5 and 2nd switch will be on floor 30, distance is around 250 Meters. What would be start-up steps to configure both switch and creating VLAN? (Also need to provide Internet access for all VLAN and DCHP address to clients) For Fiber Connectivity (What is the connectors to use at both ends)? What is the Fiber patch cord should I use LC to? Thanks! Profile: kotechabharat
