Acronis Inc. has announced that former Red Hat Inc., executive Alex Pinchev will take over as Acronis’ president and CEO next month.
Pinchev was Red Hat’s president of global sales services & field marketing since April 2008, and before that, worked for five years as an executive at the company. According to Acronis, he has 30 years of business experience, including in the storage management and virtualization markets.
He will replace Jason Donahue, who joined the company as CEO in 2008. According to Acronis, Donahue was president and CEO of ClearApp until its acquisition by Oracle. Donahue is still listed as CEO on the company’s website, and is a member of the company’s board of directors.
The release doesn’t mention a reason for Donahue’s departure or where he’s going next. When his predecessor at Acronis – ex-CEO Walter Scott – left the job, Scott remained with the company in an advisory role.
According to Acronis, Pinchev also founded and led Maincontrol, Inc., as well as two other companies in the late 1980s. Pinchev also joined Acronis board in November 2010.
Acronis, based in Woburn, Mass., is the maker of data protection and business continuity products aimed at the enterprise, SMBs and consumers.
