BMC's BladeLogic acquisition validates that data center automation is going to be hot this year and is becoming a mandate for companies in the face of today’s increasingly complex data centers. In these less than favorable economic times, companies greatly benefit from technology that can help IT control spending and still meet critical business goals.

However, I still notice a missing element in the data center automation portfolios of the big vendors and that is real time analytics for performance and availability management. With static IT budgets and growing complexity, companies can't keep throwing more bodies at keeping mission critical business services up and performing. This is clearly an opportunity for startups like Integrien who provide automation in this critical area.
