No, I would not rent my cert. I would consider it unethical. I believe that would make me complicit in a kind of fraud being perpetrated by these resellers as they are knowingly selling goods and making a profit under false pretenses, which to my mind is fundamentally wrong.

Also I am not going through my Cisco certifications primarily for monetary gains. It probably sounds cliche, but learning in my prime motivator. If in the future I receive better renumeration from my employer for my having gained my certification that would be nice, but here my employer is getting a return for the extra salary (a more qualified engineer) and nobody is being duped.
