zetVisions buys piece of Business Objects from SAP

SAP partner zetVisions AG has agreed to acquire corporate investment management (CIM) products from SAP’s Business Objects group.
The affected products are Business Objects’ Cosmos and Insighter. “Customers using BusinessObjects Cosmos and BusinessObjects Insighter will benefit from the focus and domain expertise that zetVisions offers,” said Sanjay Poonen, senior vice president for enterprise performance management for SAP’s Business Objects group in a statement.
The transaction will be discussed at two user group events this week in Europe. (Thanks to Eberhard Heins for the tip. The news was first reported last week in Computerwoche.)
SAP bought Business Objects, a leader in business intelligence, last fall. Since then Oracle has turned up the heat on its BI push, wooing VARs with BI experience to come over to Oracle’s Hyperion lineup from Business Objects. Microsoft was also talking big about BI although that chatter has died down of late. Maybe the launch of SQL Server 2008 will kick it up a notch again.
