Clarizen is only one of many examples of successful Web 2.0 use. The company that I work for – Wrike – has more in various industries ranging from marketing and consulting to logistics. Web 2.0 tools help businesses save time and money - this is the fact that small companies and global corporations are already admitting. So the usage f these tools will only expand in the future.

As someone that works extensively with small business computer consultants and small business owners, I think it’s actually is a detriment rather than a benefit for small businesses to adopt cutting-edge technologies. Most small business owners don’t have the budget or the technological expertise to operate using the latest and greatest technologies and also have very little need to stay on top of the best of the best because they need to be able to do business with others that are using “last week’s” advances. Also, I think that Web 2.0 is still pretty much in its “testing” phase despite it being the talk of the town, as it hasn’t proven itself to be completely ready to be out there and in use yet across the board. It’s certainly an interesting technology to follow and learn, but I think it’s fairly unreasonable to expect small business owners and solution providers to quickly jump on the Web 2.0 band wagon, since using it will make doing business more difficult rather than easier, since it’s not widespread and will currently cause some compatibility issues that could be devastating to efficient business operations.
