SaaS is great - for the fluffy software in your life.

For everything else you should keep it local, even if it costs more, because you must never rely on the WWW working all the time.

PS - this arguement is brand and platform neutral!

Hi Barb,

Honestly, I don't see much of any truth in what Mr. Herardian wrote, just a bunch of hyperbole. It gets a lot worse in the ensuing discussion on the LNotes-L mailing list (which Ron himself prompted), where rather than discuss or defend, he resorts to name-calling and insults.
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/lnotes-l-new/message/1804

One significant chunk of Ron's editorial asserts Sun is going to take over the world. Sun has no SaaS play and isn't exactly winning new customers in the messaging space. Further, Ron failed to disclose his business interest in this area -- he makes the only e-mail migration tool from Notes to Sun.

I know that his editorial wouldn't have been published on a site that required facts to support assertions. That I or others in the Lotus community paid it any attention is more a matter of DominoPower's potential as a legitimizer for this flamebait.

Care to elaborate on what you see as "a lot of truth" in Ron's position paper. I only see a lot of assertion, with very little in the way of justification.
