The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) says it has certified more than 50,000 IT professionals with its vendor-neutral CompTIA Security+ designation. How many individual vendors can say the same thing?
CompTIA claims that a growing number of businesses are requiring proof of broader security knowledge. About one-third of the respondents to a recent survey of 2,000 IT professionals say they require these certifications for some or all of their staff, up 25 percent from a year earlier.
CompTIA actually is in the process of overhauling the exam for its security certification and will release an update in the fourth quarter. The update will address both changes in the security environment as well as the ability to resolve security problems, not just identify them. More information can be found at this link.
