Citrix likes Ingram Micro so much, it’s going to stop seeing other distributors.

Citrix is going exclusive with Ingram Micro and expanding their distribution deal to include more rewards and resources for channel partners. The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.-based virtualization vendor announced the news this morning.

In the press release, Citrix executive Craig Stillwell praised all of Citrix’s distribution partners but said, “Ingram Micro offers the most room for our programs and support to grow, now and in the future.”

The release also featured this interesting quote from Citrix partner Peter Anderson, president of Bayshore Technologies:

“Initially we were a little concerned about working with just one distributor, but after talking to Citrix, we have every confidence that this move will not only benefit our business, but also help us drive more value to our customers.”

If even the prepared statement from a pro-vendor channel partner expresses some doubts about the deal, that might not be a good sign. On the other hand, Citrix and Ingram are implementing new bonuses for partners. They include:

  • The Ingram-Citrix Smart Enablement program, which gives eligible partners credits for making Citrix purchases. Those credits can go towards certification courses or lead-generation programs.
  • Citrix-specific resources provided by Ingram include marketing materials, technical support.
  • Additional personnel and training.

Citrix will end its relationships with its other distributors Aug. 30.
