From a command prompt run iexplore -extoff
This will get the majority of the addons but some addons will inject when you run IE they can make troubleshooting harder.
If IE stops hanging\freezing then switch over to the “managed addons” tool within IE and turn off addons one at a time until you find the one responsible for the hangs.
